I am planning to apply to grad schools in engineering. I got GRE V 360 and 800 Q but have not received the AW score yet. I would like to know what schools should I look into. I am applying for Masters level. I have GPA almost 3.75 and for the last two semesters I have GPA above 3.8. I was thinking of Texas A&M, VATech. I have two years experience of TA.

What field of engineering are you looking for?

The two main statistics for engineering grad school admissions are quantitative GRE and your GPA, both of which are very good.

You definitely want to raise your verbal. Many programs have a cutoff of 400.

I am doing civil engineering. I am an international student. I am sure the professors will write good recommendations for me. What will be the chances to get financial support?

Any Suggestion?

Uni of Illinios, MIT, CIT, Cornell, Northwestern, etc.

Apply to all of them and cross your fingers. Do you think you can increase your Verbal score if you re-take the GRE?

Since you’re an international applicant, do you need to take the TOEFL? While I’m not familiar with minimum GRE scores, I do know that some places have a minimum TOEFL score requirement.

Financial support will be minimal, if any, for a MS student, unless you’re a TA or RA.

There are plenty of good civil engineering schools out there. A good place to start looking would be the US News graduate school rankings. There’s a listing in a post on the Engineering Forum of this site. I don’t think anything is out of reach for you, though it will be tougher to get funding.

If by CIT, you mean Caltech, I think it’s a relatively poor school for civil engineering graduate studies, especially if you plan on going into industry and not academia. It’s very research based, and there’s only earthquake engineering there. I’m not sure what area of civil engineering you’re looking to study…

I dont need TOEFL cause i did my UG here in the US. This semester I will doing research with a professor for his structural analysis program. I am interested in Structures program and I do not want to go to big school and become a stupid there. So I am planning to apply to 10-20 ranked school
