<p>What are they looking for when you apply? How much does undergraduate school/GPA/major/outside activites come into effect? Which counts for more?</p>

<p>I know in general what journalism schools look for:</p>
<p>Writing samples will count a lot. Any journalism experience on campus or, even better, off. Many applicants will already have had either internships or jobs at small publications or news outlets rather than coming straight from undergrad. You will need to show that you do know what journalism is about, and are not just a good student who wants to be some sort of writer.</p>
<p>Grades are important, but not decisive if you have great clips. Major is not important. Activities other than campus newspaper etc are not particularly important except as an indication of your curiosity about the world. Languages would be a plus. </p>
