Grad School Options

Is anyone aware of the GPA needed and student involvement at CP:SLO for an engineering major to go attend upper UC for grad school? (UCLA or UCSD for example).

I was looking at the report on graduated cal poly students and I saw a student go to UCSB for EE, but that’s about it.

I've been meaning to make a post about this.

I'm not sure about engineering, but from my experience in science and math, cal poly grads get into some great grad schools. For example, from my grad year, students got into science Ph.D. programs at Harvard, Cal, UCSB, and UCD, just to name a few. This goes contrary to other comments on this board that CP students get good jobs but can't get into good grad schools.

I don't have personal experience with engineering, but it's my impression that CP engineers get such high-paying jobs out of school that they want to work for a while. For example, a good friend of mine just graduated last month and got $65K plus bonus to work in Mountain View. However, he had a 3.8 in EE and plans on applying to Stanford for grad school. Even better, his company will pay for his grad school.
