Especially regarding Economics–
Is Bowdoin strictly pre-professional, or do students go off to graduate school for advanced degrees? I like Bowdoin and I want to major in Economics, but I don’t want to go to a college that sends most graduates straight into the workforce --especially Wall Street. I’ve heard that schools like Bowdoin send Econ graduates off to become Wall St. Investment Bankers. I don’t want to be on Wall Street–I’d like to get a PhD in Economics and become an economist. Would it be possible to get a PhD after Bowdoin? Do other students do this?

Yes, Bowdoin is incredibly academic-- love of knowledge flowers there. I heard that 10% of all graduates go to Harvard Grad school. That may not be quite true, but it has to at least be based in reality. Plus, you could always work on Wall Street for a year or two an use it to pay for (and get into) a better graduate school, if you’re fine with forgoing your moral values for a while.
