My daughter is graduating on Saturday from a 4 year college. Her GPA has never gone below a 3.9. She received the Provost Award one semester for getting a perfect GPA of 4.0. Why is she only getting a $1000.00 a year scholarship from the grad school she is attending for her doctorate? Who is getting the higher scholarships?
What is her field of study? Some PhD programs have no funding at all.
She is a Biology Major. She is going to get her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
There is not funding for DPT programs in most cases.
The underlying reason: There are enough qualified applicants willing and able to pay for this degree (like your daughter), so there’s no need for schools to entice anyone with a scholarship.
Congratulations on your D’s admirable achievements!
If there are larger scholarships, then they may be going to students smarter than your daughter (i.e. cumulative 4.0 GPA).
DPT is a professional program (like Med, Dent, Pharm, Vet, Law, MBA, MAT, etc.) and rarely has scholarships available. Most students in those programs pay the full cost of their educations, often with loans.

Right. Professional schools rarely give much/any scholarships.
Students typically take out fed Direct Loans, Grad Plus Loans, and/or private loans.
