Hey guys,

I'm a senior at NYU Tisch for film at the moment, and am about to graduate. Yes, I'm pretty terrified of the job prospect upon exiting the safety net that is college. Although I am studying Film/TV production and would be more than happy to get a job in the industry for financial part of it, I also know that I would not want to do that forever. I want to be a Writer/Director (like basically everyone at school) but that is very unlikely immediately after graduation, if not impossible (at least sucessfully). My films are very experimental. Also all my life I've been very engaged in the arts. I started dabbled in Photography before I started film, and simultaneously through it all, I draw/paint, and do some multimedia work, graphic design, web design, etc etc. So I've been thinking more about just becoming a multimedia/freelance artist. And to give myself a concrete plan, I feel like maybe I should go the teaching route, that way I can support myself financially (and receive all the benefits such as health benefits etc) but it will also give me time to focus on my own work (because teaching at the collegiate level is probably not more than 5-6 hours a week).

Oh, I'm planning to take a year off before starting a grad program...

So I guess I have a set of questions:
1. What is the route to becoming a teacher? (obviously you have to have an M.A, but what do you study...Art Education? or...the specific area that you plan to teach? Let's say I wanted to teach Film or something...do I have to study Film again? Even though I've done it on the undergrad level?)
