I am likely planning on majoring on either physics or mathematics. Out of these schools which has the most fair grading (least deflation) in their sciences departments?:

Carleton College
Claremont Mckenna College
Davidson College
Hamilton College
Colgate University

I've heard that both Colgate and Davidson are notorious for grade deflation...

Why are you considering CMC for physics and mathematics?

Their average GPAs are all the same (3.3-3.5 range), so that shouldn’t really be factor.

^agreed. I would suggest Harvey Mudd for your majors - like CMC, HMC is also in the Claremont College Consortium and you can cross register with CMC if you like. HMC has a better science program than CMC. At least that’s what I heard.
I haven’t heard about any significant grade deflation at any LAC except for Wellesley…

Carleton has an entry on gradeinflation.com. It only shows school-wide average GPAs through 2004. I don’t see entries for the other schools. I’m not aware of any other data source that tracks average GPAs, and none that distinguish trends for specific fields. gradeinflation.com gives a rough, often not-very-up-to-date picture of overall grading trends.
