Grade Deflation/Inflation or the lack thereof

Hi,

I'm planning to do pre-med at either Emory or Johns Hopkins.

I'm really interested in the Neuroscience major with a minor in Global Health, but was wondering if there was any serious grade inflation or deflation that would affect my GPA there, especially in the science courses.

First of all, that is strictly class/professor dependent. However, I must say that most tough sciences, if curved, are curved up. The amount depends on how much the prof. thinks you deserve. There are some classes that straight up cap the number As. In NBB 301 for example, one professor caps As at 10%, even if those 10% got 98s, if you get a 97, you get an A-. In Advanced Inorganic, there was a bell-curve thing going on, and if too many people got As, then he’d cancel any type of curve. As for intro. science courses, curving is rare, and only occurs in extreme cases.
