Grade drop across the board--will Dartmouth rescind?

I am in a very interesting situation. I recently committed to D. I’m taking 7 year-long classes (all of which are either dual-enrollment or AP). For some reason (my school is wack), I don’t think my midyear report included any of my grades. This was probably a blessing since all of them were Bs!

This blessing may be a curse, however. When I submit my final grade report, Dartmouth will look at me as a historically A- student who is now hauling in Bs and B-s by the bushel (and maybe a C+ or two to boot) for these seven year-long classes.

I’ve worked very hard to overcome senioritis. My grades did take a nose-dive after early action decisions came out, although I am trying to recover. It will still be impossible for me to get more than 1 or 2 As for the year.

My question to those who have experience with DARTMOUTH specifically (preferably past admits who also had grade drops)–is this sort of grade drop going to get me rescinded?? I know the response is often “don’t worry about Bs, you should be fine,” but Darty’s admission letter spends quite a few words on how they expect the exact same level of performance throughout senior year.

Thanks!!

Oh, and since I know people will be angry/scolding about my grade drop, sorry. I’m more of a learning type, not someone who cares about the grades themselves, so I turned a lot of things in late etc. Hope I am not in for a world of hurt as a result of this personal philosophy of mine. I know for a fact that if asked, I can write a GREAT letter explaining what happened, why I’m sorry, and how I look forward to putting max effort into Dartmouth classes (all of which is 100% true).

I expect you will be fine but I dont have specific experience with Dartmouth on this. Ask you high school college counselor for feedback.

@dowzerw Cool! I don’t go to the greatest school (which doesn’t help my case since As are pretty easy to get) and my guidance counselor doesn’t have any experience with Dartmouth. It can’t hurt to try, though. Thank you.

I believe as long as you don’t fail any classes, you should be fine. Senioritis is normal and to be expected.

“I’m more of a learning type, not someone who cares about the grades themselves, so I turned a lot of things in late etc.”

I do not recommend that attitude about deadlines for anyone attending any college.

Your attitude isn’t very respectful of your teachers’ time and effort. Why should they have to keep track of which students owe work and spend additional time grading? College professors will just give you a zero.

You say, “pretty easy to get” A grades but think you “can write a GREAT letter explaining what happened, why I’m sorry, and how I look forward to putting max effort into Dartmouth classes.”

NOT. They like success, not excuses or promises.

The B grades will probably be ok. But you need to pull yourself together. At D, the week to week competition in class will be higher than in hs.

Can’t imagine that the letter explaining this would be GREAT.

Actually there was a student on the boards who had a drop in grades. he was admitted ED. While he was not rescinded, he was asked to defer for a year.
