During high school I had really good grades freshman, and junior year. But during my sophomore year I had personal problems during that time and my grades suffered for it. I want to know whether I should mention to the admissions the fact that I had issues during this time which caused my poor grades. It’s not like I was physically sick it was just a traumatic enough issue that it caused me to not do as well as I had been sophomore year. Do you think it would hurt or help if I mentioned this?
Have your guidance counselor mention it in their letter of rec. If something impacted your grades and you have a valid reason, college admissions officers will understand. If you don’t tell them, they will just think you slacked off.
Agree as long as it is not a mental health issue and as long as it is not something likely to re-occur.
