grade inflation/deflation at Wash u

is wash u known for grade inflation or deflation?

I was at Wash U last week with my son who is close to deciding to go there. In the pre-med classes, we were told by several students that Wash U. curves over the B+ with the students all trying to beat the mean. So, I wouldn't call it grade inflation, I would call it recognizing that there's tons of smart kids at the school.

the mean is curved to a C+ in the first semester of gen chem. After that, means in pre-med classes are usually curved to a B-. i would say there is slight grade deflation in pre-med classes but humanities courses are pretty grade inflated in my opinion.

I really think that in the social sciences that the grades are pretty right-on.
