Assignment: should originality always be more highly praised than conformity?

Originality is to create something new. To be original one needs a creative mind to create unique ideas. As the saying goes ‘’it is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation’’. In fact, not only people encourage the creative person, but also praise his or her own creativity. In my opinion, and I am sure many would agree, originality always be more highly praised than conformity.

For instance, since the primitive life there was no source of heat. Early humans tried to create any source of heat. They collected some woods and rubbed two sticks together generating enough heat to start a blaze. As a result they created a source of heat. Because of their creativity they could know how to make a fire with simple tools

Another example is Thomas Edison, who invented the first Electric Light Bulb in 1879. At the beginning of his life, he failed at school’s subjects, so his teachers told his mother that he was not able to learn anything. His mother did not give up and stoop up for her son. Because of his Mather’s tenacity, Edison was not crestfallen by the unwisely opinions of his school’s teachers. He could invent the first Electric Light Bulb. In fact, many people were thankful to Edison.

In conclusion, originality is praised than conformity. Although conformity may be appropriate in day to day life, but we should save our highest praise for people who choose to be unique. Originality is an amazing talent which everyone dreams it.
