<p>Are children's political opinions an echo of those espoused by their parents ?
Children are completely influenced by their parents from the moment they are born . Parents support and care for their children throughout their life,so it is natural that children will see them as role models and try to be like them . This basic desire definitely influences their social and political opinions and is shown by the examples of Draco Malfoy and Will from the Tunnels series
In the Harry potter series , Draco Malfoy is the son of the most important servants of Lord Voldemort , the main villain. Brought up in a household where house elves are treated as filth and discrimination and injustice is done to 'mudbloods' with pride , Draco naturally starts seeing such behaviour as normal . So when he joins Hogwarts ,where such people are equally treated he starts bullying them . As he grows up , he gains feeling of conflict on whether this behaviour is correct, yet when his father orders him to do something ,he does it without a question . From this example it is seen that Draco is influenced by his parents , and no matter what he really feels, would give the opinion that 'mudbloods' , who are born from a wizard and a non wizard ,do not deserve to be a part of the magical society .
Another example that justifies this point can be taken from the book Tunnels . The protagonist,Will, has always followed in his father's footsteps . His father is an archaeologist as well as a museum curator who has a passion for digging . Unsurprisingly , Will too gets caught in this hobby with passion .As the events of the book transpire, Will finds out that he is actually adopted . He stays with his new-found family for a while, but at the end it is seen that Will wants to go back to his original family , no matter how dysfunctional it is. Here it is seen that no matter what experiences he goes through ,Will always will identify strongest with his primary caregiver , his father.
This influence that parents have on their children is enormous , and from the examples given , it is clearly seen that they will grow up to ,almost always, hold the same opinions on basic issues, and have the same values. Thus , it is clear that children's opinions do indeed echo those of their parents and can be seen as an indicator of their parent's attitudes and behaviour .</p>
<p>Your essay is really nice and well developed. The only thing that may, though unlikely to, prevent you from a 12 is perhaps sentence structure. I suggest that you use a more varied structure of sentence: inversion, “S+V; S+V”, “V-ing …, S+V”, …</p>
<p>The essay asks for ‘children’s political opinions’. You have delt extensively on how a parent might influence how a child see’s the world. However, an example involving politics may have been more appropriate. For example you could have used george bush senior vs his son george w bush. Otherwise i woud give your essay 9 out of 12.</p>
