Prompt: Should people take more responsibility for solving problems that affect their communities or the nation in general?

The people should take more responsibility for solving problems that affect their communities because government can only make policies and rules but are of no use if we dont make ourselves compliant to get them implemented on us and obey them. Many examples from history and current affairs support this assertion.

The problem of uncleanliness in India was on hike last year. It led to several other problems like foul smell, heaps of garbage, diseases etc. To solve this, the government started a Use Me program, under which, it deployed 100 dustbins in each locality. But the problem couldnt be solved. This is because, the people just didnt use the dustbins. They continued littering the roods and the surroundings and the not-the-less, criticizing government for nothing.

Another example which supports my stand is of Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks raised her voice against the discrimination of the black people by the whites. She, and the people of her community, took the initiative and responsibility and boycotted the buses for 381 days. This did lead to a revolutionary change in the history of black people.

As my examples highlight, people need to take more responsibility. No doubt, the government sometimes doesnt work up to the mark, but then, we need to stand up for our nation, for ourselves. Mahatma Gandhi has rightly said, You can take a horse to water, but you cant make him drink it.
