Grade Point Scale

My school uses this gay GPA scale-12 point. From what I know we're the only school in the world with it. Most either use 4 point or the 100 thing, more percentish. It goes like this:
12-A+
11-A
10-A-
9-B+
8B
etc.
etc.
ANd then an F is 0

They say to convert it to a 4 point you add 1 and divide by 3. SO at most normal schools is a 4.0 straight As not A+s, correct? So my cum. GPA is an 11.714 (UW) so that would mean my GPA is a 4.2 (UW), is that rihgt. Just checkin to make sure all is right and just to spread this stupidity a little more.

On the 4 point scale you can't have more than a 4.0.

yeah you can. 4 points for normal classes, and an extra for APs, its still a 4 point scale though because some people don't take APs.

my old school used that in indiana, so its not the only one.

Wov, that is similar to what we used in Ukraine.

BJD....what school? mine uses the 12-pt scale as well

riverider1226,
That would be weighted because you are adding extra bonus points for Honors/AP/IB/DE, the OP is trying to calculate UW.

Yeah but my real question is if an 11 on this scale equals a 4.0, so 4.0 is just plain striaght As

depends on the school:

mine:

97+ A+
93+ A
90+ A-
87+ B+
83+ B
80+ B-
77+ C+
73+ C
70+ C-
...

All A's (doesn't matter + or -)= 4.0

Mine is:

97+ ---> 4.0
93+ ---> 3.8
90+ ---> 3.6
87+ ---> 3.4
83+ ---> 3.2
80+ ---> 3.0
77+ ---> 2.8
73+ ---> 2.6
71+ ---> 2.4
70+ ---> 2.0
Below 70 ---> 0

I think with yours, you would just divide by 4. Not sure though.

My high school just did a 4.0 scale.

A - 4.0
B - 3.0
C - 2.0
D - 1.0
F - 0.0

However, honors courses were an extra .5, therefore an A would have been a 4.5 For AP courses, an extra 1.0 was given, so an A would have been a 5.0
