Grade Scales

What is everyone's grade scale at your school?
im not sure how this translates into a 4- point gpa scale but...
100-93- A
92-86- B
85-77- C
76-70- D
69 and below- F
my high school grades numerically (no letter grades like A +, B-). im just wondering if this is a geographic thing or my school is just totally random.
btw, i go to school in the southeast US

.-_-.

90-100 A
80-89 B
etc

It is not that easy cause teachers grade hard and curve tests so that only a few people will get over 90.

i thought curving tests lets everyone do better? only 1 of my teachers curves tests, but i usually get a high A's, so i get a 100.
also, i wish i had your grade scale. mine seems overly hard.

At my school it varied teacher to teacher. for example, some teachers have 99-100 for an A+, some call a 100 an A and anything OVER it an A+.. and my Bio teacher in 9th called anything over a 97.5 an A+. THAT was fantastic.

Same goes for all the letter grades. Depends on the teacher.

snoopy - by any chance, the Triangle? ;)

What? i dont understand your question. what triangle?

Curving sucks if they do it to fit a bell curve.

Grading scale varies teacher to teacher at my school too.
Most simply do: 89.something-100=A, 80-89.something=B, etc.

100-98 4.0
97-93 3.666
90-92 3.333
87-89 3
86-83 2.666

100-97: A+
96-93: A
92-90: A-

89-87: B+
86-83: B
82-80: B-

And so the scale continues, until:
D: 69-65
F: 0-64

"90-100 A
80-89 B
etc

It is not that easy cause teachers grade hard and curve tests so that only a few people will get over 90."

same for me

97-100 A+ 4.3
93-96 A 4.0
90-92 A- 3.7
87-89 B+ 3.3
83-86 B 3.0
80- 82 B- 2.7
and so on and soooooo onnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

By the way, when I say curve, I mean bell curve...

It works out to around 20% As each class for me. Competition gets a bit cutthroat, but I suppose it is good for the teacher since rarely does anyone not pass the AP exam and most kids get 5s.

Grade Letters Grade Percentages GPA
A 90-100 3.50-4.00
B 80-89 2.50-3.49
C 70-79 1.50-2.49
D 60-69 0.75-1.49
F 0-59 0.00-0.74

snoopy: I believe that "The Triangle" refers to the Raleigh, NC, area.

Mine is broken down as 90%+ A, 80-89% B, etc., with no +/- suffixes. My APUSH teacher is an exception; he uses ranges of 15% per letter grade (85%+ A, 70-84% B, 55-69% C), but he makes sure that his class is more difficult. No one has ever scored 100% on one of his multiple-choice exams.

A+ 99-100 4.33
A 95-98 4
A- 93-94 3.67
B+ 91-92 3.33
B 87-90 3

A+ 97-100 4.5
A 93-96 4.2
A- 90-92 3.9
B+ 87-89 3.6
B 83-86 3.3
B- 80-82 3

98-100 A+ (Only for projects/assignments. Even if you get an A+ on every single thing in a year, you can't get it as a semester grade)
95-97 A
90-95 A-
87-90 B+
83-87
80-83 B-
Etc.

That's not exact for the B's, but is about it. It sort of goes like that for below also.

that makes no sense...if you get 100 it still is an A even when an A is 95-97?

kay, i found out how my grade scale translates in to a 4.0 grade scale today.
93-100- 4
86-92- 3
77-85- 2
76-70- 1
69- below- 0
if you get say, an 86, 93, 97, 84, 98, and 90 in a semester, you average 3+4+4+2+4+3 and you have your GPA.
also, what about the Raleigh area? still dont get it.

Thought you'd figure it out ;)

Do you live there?
