Graded writing sample

I am looking for some advice on what the perspective is of an admissions officer when reviewing a graded writing sample. As part of many of the applications, a graded writing example is required. My english course is quite difficult and on the one assignment I got an A on it was done with a partner. On the other hand, my history course is quite easy and A’s are the norm for each writing piece. I am wondering should I choose to submit a piece where I got an A or C+/B- on it? Should I decide to submit one from my English course or History?

Me? I would turn in a revision to my teacher of the C+/B- on Monday and ask him/her if she would re-grade it with on-page corrections, notes, and all so that you could submit it as a graded writing sample. An English paper that is rigorously graded is preferable; but I would not submit something below a solid ‘B’.

Otherwise, if time is too short, you could submit the wimpy History paper.

Why would you want to submit a C+/B- paper? Go with History.
