Okay, so, I am a sophomore in high school and my classes and grades consist of:
PE 2 - A (98)
Honors Pre-Calculus - C (74)
AP World History - B (80)
Engineering Drawing (CAD) - A (94)
Spanish 3 - B (86)
AP Biology - B (82)
Honors English - B (81)
Economics and Personal Finance - B (89)
My current GPA at the end of the second semester is 3.58.
Honors Pre-Calc is my biggest weakness, I hopefully plan on taking AP Calculus next year though. In AP World History, I am struggling to keep a B. Same in AP Biology.
I do a few large extracurricular STEM activities that i think will really give me an advantage, like:
- FLL Robotics (for four years before FRC)
- FRC Robotics - (Head Robot Electrician)
- Summer paid internship at Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (particle accelerator facility, where i work 10 weeks with the other engineers there)
- Robotics summer camp counselor
- Local science fairs
I have come here to ask what you think about my chances of getting in to, and surviving the engineering program at Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
I plan to major in Mechanical Engineering there. I am worried that the C in Pre-calc will hold me back, and i don’t know if i could survive AP Calculus next year.
Any feed back is really appreciated! Thanks!
