Hey, I am going to apply to Brown ED this fall and I have a question about my grades on my transcript. I got all A’s (meaning a variety of A-'s, A’s and A+'s) my freshman year. Soph and junior years I got all A’s except in math I got B’s and B+'s. I have been taking pretty much the toughest courseload offered at my school (including the toughest math classes). I decided to stick with the hard math and take a B, even though I could have transfered into a lower level math class and gotten A’s. How will admission officers look at this? Will B’s in one subject keep me out? Thanks!

I personally don't think that a "B" will keep you out. You sound like you're within the top 5 to 10% of your class, and as long as you can stay within that range and keep everything up, I think you're in good shape.

Dude, Get a grip. Of course not.

Ok, thanks. I guess I'm getting overly nervous. I just remembered someone telling me once that one B on your transcript would get you denied from Ivy League schools and it freaked me out. But I'm ok now.

It won't. I had Bs and got in.

I had a few Bs and I got in, and a friend of mine had a B every year and got in.

How about this? I missed a ton of school (because I was sick all of high school) and I'd say I have at least one B every year (I won't next year though). Freshman year I think there's a C+, there might be a B- soph. My GPA will end up being 3.6ish. Am I screwed? 2100 SAT's, varsity athlete, awesome EC's. But my grades really are terrible. Ugh, I wish I was into college now. Thoughts?
