Grades do matter, but from when?

My current GPA is a low 3 and I fully understand that this score is no where near good enough to get to Harvard but if I get at least an A average from my second semester of Sophomore and keep it going, will I have a chance to get into Harvard just in terms of GPA?

I understand that Google can probably help me with this a little but I really wanted this question answered personally, not reading off someone else's post.

Thanks

well according to Harvard’s stats the mean GPA is 3.7 and 90% of students admitted are in the top 10%. Now just work hard and focus on all 95’s and above in all your classes and aim for a REALLY high SAT score.

Thanks for replying

I took the PSAT last year and got 170 because i messed up in my writing section.
If I convert that to a normal SAT score how much would that be?

I am planning to take the SAT this year and probably next year too.
However I heard that taking ACT is also a good option.
Should I bother taking it or not?
(Sorry if this is kind of an obvious question, I’m a newbee in this area)

Oh, I just forgot to ask one more thing,

I go to the American School of Paris and I have to say, the courses are quite hard from time to time.

Therefore I was wondering, do the admission people care to see whether your school is a hard grader? Also, do I have any merits being an international student from abroad?

hmmm well about the ACT you should check out its lay out and its “system.” I would suggest just sticking with the SAT because your PSAT is pretty good, i got a 169 and now score a consistent 2000-2100. And I do believe colleges will consider the rigor of curriculum and the general average test scores from that school. another tip it will look bad if you take the SAT more than 3 times. I have friend from Spain who just got admitted to UT Austin,a very good college and I think he had to take the TOEFL exam, which he did good on.
