Hi guys. So last week on Thursday and Friday my grades for a minor class came down to an F. It’s because I apparently didn’t submit a few assignments. I’m worried that my counselor sent the transcripts during the time in which my grade was at a low; but then again the grade wasn’t the final grade so I’m not sure if it showed up on the transcript. Help!!
Typically boarding schools don’t want a transcript until it includes grades from the first marking period. Was the “F” the grade for the marking period?
No, it’s a grade-in-progress for my second quarter grades. They won’t see it, right? @AppleNotFar
I am absolutely not an authority here, but I suspect not assuming that you get your grade up for the quarter and keep it up through the end of the year. I believe most if not all schools will require a final transcript at the conclusion of the academic year from students who have accepted their offer of admission. Matriculation will be contingent on the student continuing to demonstrate the same level of achievement and strength of character as was documented in the application.
Do you know if your school sent your transcript after the 1st marking period? That would seem to be the ideal for you because it would buy you time to get that grade back up.
I do hope that you take this as a wake up call on keeping up with your assignments. I know it can be tough to juggle your academic and extracurricular activities while applying to BS, but you need to keep working hard if this is something you really want. Good luck!
@AppleNotFar Thank you for the info! I don’t usually submit assignments late and I’ll work hard to not let it happen again! The first marking period has finished already and I’m currently in the second marking period, so my grade is still in process. My school sent the transcript last Thursday and it contained my first marking period’s grades but I’m worried that it might’ve shown the failed grade I received (which has been changed yesterday to an A). Do the transcripts send in-progress grades that are not final?
@HhopefulFforSsuccess2021 I think you are good! Can’t imagine there would be the need for an additional transcript until the final is ready at the conclusion of the school year.

Edited out @AppleNotFar 's response to a post I deleted for hijacking; the answer makes no sense out of context.
@AppleNotFar Thank you!
@HhopefulFforSsuccess2021 I doubt they would send in-progress grades, but that’s just a guess and you could ask your school counselor or registrar to be sure. I asked a similar question of my child’s counselor, and he informed me that the school sends only the final semester’s grades and that even formal progress reports with grades on them are not sent unless we specifically request to have them sent.
@CaliPops thank you for the information!
