Hey guys! Let's say one gets accepted by CAL and/or UCLA, what's the gpa he or she needs to maintain in order to stay admitted? 3.0? 3.5? I mean... What's the deal here?

Well really it depends on the applicant. I would guess just keep it consistent with the one that you had when applying. (ie not go from a 3.8 student to a 2.8-3.0 student?)

B average, nothing lower than a C

Well… I am applying for Econ at CAL. The last pre-req will be Calc 2, will I be fine with a B in that course? I mean… I will be also taking Astronomy and Public Speaking… which hopefully will be easy As (knock on the wood!!).

I hear that Astronomy is a lot tougher than it sounds. Anyway, yeah I’m sure that they won’t rescind you for a B in Calculus. That is of course, if/when you get in! :)

People like to say all you need is a 3.0, but take it with a grain of salt. You probably will be fine with a 3.0, but DO NOT get anything below a B in any of your classes (especially if it’s a prerequisite course); consistency is the key.

thx guys!!!

Stick with As and Bs. As mentioned, C’s may get you in an iffy situation.

i got c in physic (per-req) and was scared for a long time, it turned out to be ok

hey dreamspace… so u said u received a C in one of your pre req courses after ur acceptance… and you were fine after all? what was ur major and the school you were accepted to? thx

Don’t…even think about it. Just concentrate on getting A’s and B’s and you’ll be fine. Why stick your nose in something you don’t wanna get yourself into?

I’ve seen people who have gotten C’s end up being fine, but they definitely would go back and try harder in that class if they could because that sense of insecurity is not something you wanna get yourself into.

Most of the UC Acceptance letters just say something like “Maintain your GPA,” which is obviously what leaves room for so much confusion. I would definitely stay above a 3.0.
BUT, keep in mind that depending on the competitiveness of your program, your acceptance might come with a stipulation stating to stay above a certain GPA (like a 3.5 for example).

Honestly though, don’t sweat it. I was accepted last year by UCI, UCSB, UCR, and UCLA with a 3.7 GPA and a spring GPA of 3.0. I didn’t get rescinded if that makes you feel any better. :)

yes it does!! =) so u basically “kinda” slacked off during the spring semester? just “kidna” lol
