grades...grades...grades

Considering myself as an above average applicant, please be honest.

For first semester, I received:
AP Literature: A
AP Physics: B
AP Chemistry: B
AP Government: B
AP Calculus AB: B
Spanish: B

I know, I know, it's horrible, and I went through a major senioritis. Prior to my senior year, I had four B's. My final rank is still within top two percentile.

Am I screwed, as in did I just lose my opportunity to even be considered an acceptee at Stanford!!!???

what is your school's grading scale? i don't know if you screwed yourself, but it might count against you that you had a fairly large decline 1st semester.

100-90=A
89-80=B

Do you think it would be more of a tip-factor, or a large portion of the application? I'm so worried...I mean I have excuses, such as working many hours due to family's financial circumstances, but it ultimately is my fault, and apparently shows that I cannot optimize my time most effectively.

me thinks you're being paranoid

I think you have a right to be concerned. Four B's on the transcript already isn't phenomenal for Stanford, and another 5 isn't going to help. However, as you're not one of those "all A" people, it won't affect you too much.

What I mean is that if you were going to be accepted w/ those B's already, a less than super senior year isn't going to change anything.

major senioritis in first semester can be deadly for RD.

oh, oops. I thought u meant that was your 2nd semester grade.
If it was in your mid-year report... well, you are still top 2%. I think it'll still be ok

speaking of grades, does stanford make distinctions between, say, A-minuses and solid A's?

I don’t think so, since on your report card it’d probably say A.

Oh well, there's nothing you can do about it now. Wait until April 1st, then be upset.
