Grades in High School

So including my GPA last semester I’m currently sitting at around a 3.4 ish (hoping it’ll reach 3.5 or very close to it by the end of my current semester)

I had a C and D+ in Algebra II/Trig, but had a B- and A- in PreCalc the following year
then last semester for AP Calc AB I had a D+ then switched to AP Prep PreCalc (since I took normal PreCalc last year and had a certain scandal break out…) for my current semester currently sitting around a C+ area close to a B- (not sure if I have enough time to get it to a B- ).

Regardless, with these bad grades I’ve obtained in Math, I’ve been relatively consistent with getting As or Bs in other classes hence my 3.4 gpa.

I’m looking at schools with Film Production programs such as USC, Chapman, UCLA, NYU, and a few others.

That being said I’m curious to hear what my chances are due to senior year beginning for me next year.

Note : I’m taking 6 AP Classes Senior year and I’m confident I can get them all higher than a B- at the very least
(classes being AP Stats, AP Bio., AP Psychology, AP Lit., AP Art History, and AP Gov/Pol)

Classes I’ve taken so far that are “advanced” are Pre AP English and World History, AP World History, currently taking AP Lang and AP US History (finished now since AP Exams are over) and all of these classes are over a B- at the very least I believe and something to note is that I did take Algebra II/Trig, Precalc, and AP Calc two years earlier than most students would take it as a “standard”.

Thanks for the help guys!

Edit : I’m also currently the leader for my Film Club at my high school as well. Other than that nothing else.

Having Ds on your transcript is gong to hurt, no doubt. UCs especially are not forgiving of those. Doing better in the next math level up is positive though. Taking precalc twice is not.

Do you have more film experience than a club? Production, writing, any kind of portfolio?

What state are you in? You might look at Orange Coast College, they have a film program and studios. You might start there and select your classes for transfer. UCLA and USC take a lot of CCC transfers. You could even apply to USC after one year. So sure put your application in but look for backup. What does your GC think?

I’m in WA. I’m currently writing a script to produce for our club and no portfolio really. I have quite a few back up colleges in mind but am just curious to hear everyone 's thoughts and all.
