I've been getting straight A's ever since Freshman year, but right now I've just finished the first semester of Junior year with a B and a B+. Here are my grades so far:

Orchestra: A
AP US Hist.: A
AP Bio: B+
Honors Physics: A
AP Eng: A- (Borderline; final hasn't come in yet, might change for the worse D:)
Hon Precalc: B

SAT: 2370

How will my chances of getting into Stanford/Ivies be impacted from this drop? I'm planning to raise all my grades back to where they belong (A) next semester, but I'm worried I'm already down and out.

I'm currently really focused on 4 (i think) extracurriculars right now, including piano, violin, hospital volunteering, and Model UN. Dunno if that'll do anything.

Two Bs aren’t going to kill you. Obviously it’d be better if you didn’t have them, but you still stand a chance at stanford and ivies.

But do realize that in a lot of high schools, junior year is when your coursework gets stepped up. Keep straight As as a goal, sure, but don’t think that your life depends on getting them. I know far too many people who think that way, and even the ones who do get straight As aren’t very happy.

every kid at this place plays violin and piano at the prodigy level. Every kid here has high grades, test scores, volunteers, and “gets involved.”

Yeah I had A all throughout junior year and I got a B in AP Calc and A Eco.
your SAT score is AMAZING! I just dont know why you arent talking AP Calculus haha

Stanford could fill the class with 4.0s and 2300+. They don’t. They are looking for kids who have accomplished something really outstanding. Find your sweet spot and put your energies into that.

Don’t worry about it - first semester junior year was my worst gpa and generally hits people hard - so just improve from there. And like M’s Mom said, look beyond the classroom.

Zakuropanda hit the nail on the head. Pull yourself together and manage your time better. Otherwise you’re going to end up like me and be very, very regretful.

Well, from what I hear, junior year is the most important year in high school. So I suggest you to step it up and bring those grades up second semester! :)
