That is about it, I will mostly talk a lot about my experience at HFLS for community service and teaching kids english...

Do I have a least a shot at UPenn Wharton, Harvard, Columbia, Georgetown... Also, how about NYU (stern), BC, Boston U (legacy), Carneige Mellon, Emory, WashU in St Louis, Wellseley, Notre Dame, Lehigh, Wake Forest, etc...

any help would be really appreciated!

I don't think you have a chance at any of the Ivies, due to your low GPA. You have a decent shot at Wake Forest, but I'm unsure about everewhere else.

sorry, i forgot to add that I am top 10% (my school is very competitve, and getting b's is considered really good... some teachers only give an A a quarter...) I don't know if that might help me a little bit?

I think you would be viable at Lehigh too, and maybe Wellesley, depending on how their class is filling out. Notre Dame is a crap shoot... Ivies - idk: how many students from your school go to ivies?

oh, well just this year, 8 people got into brown, 4 to harvard, 3 to Upenn, 1 to princeton, 7 to duke, 3 to standford (including val and sal), 6 to yale, and 8 to dartmouth... the list goes on... my school is pretty good in that there are lots of people going to ivyes and high caliber schools. Most including me, consider BU as safeties..

Unless you go to a prestigious prep/boarding school, I find that extremely hard to believe.

it is a presitgious prep/boarding school, but it is one of the best public schools in MA, so that should explain it..

Lol, my school is similar to laxgurl's in terms of college acceptances (sometimes better), and it is a public school

How many extra points do honors classes give for you? Your weighted GPA is .7 higher than your normal GPA, despite having taken no AP classes, so I get the feeling that 6, rather than 5, would be your best possible score. Am I correct?

NYU and Wellesely seem like the closest matches, although they may be reaches as well. If your school is as competative as you say, you may stand a better chances. The Ivies are going to be extremely difficult...

thanks for your imputs... khaki, im not too sure how the honors classes work.. but I know that they are out of 5 instead of 4 (college classes).. however, I do pretty well in my honors classes, mostly A-'s, and also I do almost all honors classes, so that maybe why my weighted grade is soo much higher?

The ivies are reaches, as they are for everyone. Low gpa isnt the end of the world. So don't let anyone tell you NOT to even try. However... I would have a safety/match heavy list instead of a reach heavy list, because with a low gpa, u want to be safe. I would say your in at BU

high reaches: UPenn Wharton, Harvard, Columbia, Georgetown, WashU in St Louis
reaches: Stern, Carnegie Mellon, Emory, Wellesley, Notre Dame
matches: BC, BU, Lehigh, Wake Forest

good luck. i hope your school is as good as you say it is.

thanks! spectaclesam2002
