Grades

So so far junior year i have all B+, however i take all honors/AP. Frosh/soph years i have 4.0. Will the junior transcript be a problem for admissions?

Colleges im looking at include UNC, UVA, NYU, villanova, UC-San Diego, Univ of Vermont, univ of wisconsin…etc.

Unless you have a UC GPA of 4.0+ for UCSD, your chances are not good. Test scores/EC’s and essays will factor into your admission decisions, but GPA is very important.

You need to calculate your UC GPA and you will get extra Honors points for UC approved Honors/AP/IB classes you have taken 10-11th grades. Junior year grades are probably the most important for admissions since your complete Senior year grades will not be available at time of application.

@Gumbymom i’m aware of weighted GPA. I Have no idea what UC GpA is, by weighted GPA is 4.2

UC GPA is the GPA calculated for UC admissions. I gave you the link. UC’s only use 10-11th grades for the a-g course requirements to calculate the UC GPA. You get 8 extra honors points for UC approved Honors courses (in-state CA applicants) or AP/IB or DE courses towards the UC weighted capped GPA. You need to know your UC GPA if you plan to apply to UCSD.

@Gumbymom i used that website you linked. I scored a 4.13 UC GPA

If you maintain your GPA then you have a good shot as UCSD as long as your SAT/ACT scores are competitive along with quality EC’s and essays.
I do not know if you are in-state CA, but just a word of caution. If you are OOS, UCSD gives little to no financial aid, so plan to pay $55K/year to attend.

Good Luck.

Yes, but that’s for UCSD in specific. Will getting B+'s my junior year greatly negatively impact college admission in general?

Junior year is very important in the eyes of the admission officers. They would rather see a upward trend in grades vs a downward trend. B+ is not a major downward trend but will impact your GPA. It is still early in your Junior year so you have time to get those grades up by school year’s end. Work hard and do your best, that is all anyone can expect.
