I'd just like to know if my grades are like so:

Form 2/9th Grade: average
Form 3/10th Grade: amazing
Form 4/ 11th Grade: worst possible year in my whole schooling life
Form 5/12th Grade: amazing

would it have a detrimental effect on my application? What would the ad coms think? It is an upward trend...but then it fell horribly.

I didn't adjust well to the first year studying in a 'stream' (students are divided into the commerce/arts or science stream here after Form 3).

In general, the emphasis put on grades in admissions is: jr>sr>sop>fr

Many schools give less weight, or none at all, to fr year as students are getting adjusted to HS. The importance of course selection and grades builds up to jr year. Sr year is important as far as class selection but not as much for grades since the application process occurs before final grades are in.

Are you going to send in your school report for each year? Because as for me, I was thinking of submitting just my PMR, SPM and A levels results.

I feel you shouldn’t worry of your form 4 performance, cause everybody has his/her downfall I guess. You should present yourself better in other ways; EC, essay, honors, etc.

Where are you applying to? ou just had your SPM last year?

Mimanchi - I was told to send in 4 years of sec school reports. I have all of the above plus my PMR and predicted SPM scores. I’m taking it this November.

Applying to NYU (ED), USC, Boston U, Syracuse, Pace. I’m not really thinking about other schools…just hoping to get into NYU and skip the application for others.

Yep, twice now, haha. Have you? I was on the fairtest.org website and found out that Bowdoin doesn’t require any SAT scores…which is awesome, because I feel that the SATs are all about how good you can take a test; it doesn’t actually measure your capabilities. I’m taking my SAT IIs this coming November 1st.

Good luck with your applications! I know I’m freaking out - especially with the incompetence of our post offices, haha. Typical Malaysian fashion to be laaaaaaate.
