My only concern about going to Cornell is the rumors of a cut-throat atmosphere and rampant grade deflation. How difficult is it to get good grades in pre-med? Is it as terrifying as many make it out to be? (My major would be HBHS in HumEc, by the way.) Thanks for the help, guys.

it would be difficult to do well in premed if you dont do your work and you dont study. as long as you keep up with your work and go in regularly for office hours, you will be fine. is cornell cut throat? not intensely. everyone is working to do their very best and keep up the gpa they were able to maintain in high school, but no one will go out of their way to make sure that they ace the test and that you fail (such as ripping out pages in a text book). everyone forms study groups to help each other out.

college isnt terrifying :)

hbhs is not that easy. it is easy if you study. hbhs basically take either a lot of NS courses or a lot of HD courses. i think HD is easier

colinization: Congrats on getting into HBHS! I remember you back from ED worrying about your decisions :)

Thank you Chandler.
I certainly intend to work my ass off in college, my concern is that at Cornell it may not be enough.
Also, I know what NS stands for, but what’s HD? Something about humanities?

Oh and by the way, the alternative is Middlebury. I don’t know if that’s relevant or not, I just thought it may be a useful fact to have when evaluating my situation.

Thanks again guys.

Wow, man, you have a really similar situation as I do (I’m Cornell vs. Williams).
Are you leaning towards one or the other?
HD stands for Human Development, those classes actually look fascinating.

Your situation is something I can totally relate to. Just ask yourself what you want: the two colleges are VERY different. I don’t know much about Middlebury, but I know that it’s similar to Williams in a lot of ways. So if you have any questions about my rationale for the decision I’m making, you can definitely send me a PM.
