Grades?

I guess I’ve got a fairly “Asian” report card. No offense, if for some reason you are lame enough to be offended (I’m asian myself). A’s in Calc + Bio, B+'s in History + shudder Religion, B’s in English and Spanish.

I’m just ticked off that I got my FIRST C EVER this quarter. C+ in Religion. I’m atheist and never touched a bible before coming to this school, which I did so only for its slightly above average academic prestige. My teacher can’t teach, and you can’t exactly find tips on studying the bible like you can for math. ****. So mad. My parents are going to beat me with chopsticks tonight.

if you have mediocre grades during your frosh and soph years, you will own your junior year

if you have awesome grades during your frosh and soph years, you will get owned junior year (C+'s across the board)

(at least that’s what happened to all the juniors i know)

Freshman year - surprisingly, all A’s (okay, A-'s…), um, I guess the classes were a joke and the finals did something?

Soph: 1 B+ 1st semester, another B this semester, rest probably A’s (many A-'s at the borderline).

Did hw 3 times total outside of school this year, don’t remember ever opening a textbook/studying.

I guess proportional to my effort, the results are pretty good, which I attribute it to the pretty low quality of the classes at my school and doing some quirky/out-of-the-box methods in academics that I’ve never seen anyone else do.

Do you guys think my GPA (one B- and one B) is kinda low for Ivy League and top LAs ??

@Invoyable

If you don’t mind, what exactly are these “quirky/out-of-the-box methods”?

I’ve had all A’s (no A-s or below)… 11 APs so far… Most classes are easy, a few aren’t. A couple of times I had borderline grades but my teachers gave me the higher one

I’v gotten TONS of C’s (one or two every semester…except this one  )
My cumulative GPA is 3.3

I have all A’s, with the exception of 2 B’s in freshman English due to a crappy teacher (I’ve never had any other B’s in English since, and I scored 690 CR and 730 W on the SAT in May. So there, Mr. T). I also have 2 B’s in honors Chemistry this year since I’m just not a chemistry person. Oh, and a B in honors Pre-Calc - also the only B I’ve ever gotten in math. My teacher slacked off during the fourth quarter of the year and didn’t teach anything, yet he expected us to know everything. That makes 5 B’s in total for grades 9 and 10.

Oh well. Hopefully junior year will be better…

How can some of you juniors/ seniors have taken 9-11 AP classes?!? No fair! my school offers ten! and will have taken all of them by the time graduate, lmao…

omg just got a 99 on a math test. Final grade will be an A if I got above 93 on the exam.

… that one point will be a thorn in my mind. Which question was it?

Question: Do colleges see your semester/midterm/final exam grades, or just final grades? Anyway…

My school does grades without +/-
93-100 A
85-92 B
idk
idk
<69 F

Freshman Year (all IBMYP, which is pre-IB)

-Algebra II/Trig: A
-World History: A
-French II: A
-English I: A
-Biology I: A
-Earth Science: A
-Art I: A
-Health/PE: A

Sophomore Year (all IBMYP except math, which is IB, and Creative Writing, which is standard)

-Math Methods I (basically precal): A
-Civics/Econ: A
-French III: A
-English II: A
-Chem I: A
-Physics I: A
-Art II: A
-Creative Writing: A

But a lot of these were B’s at the semester and were barely A’s at the end. My philosophy sophomore year was “ehhh I think I’ll take a break and coast this year” until fourth quarter when I flipped out and started trying to save my grades. Haha that was a terrible idea.

Two Bs freshman and sophomore year, one B junior year. Luckily only the freshman Bs were in core classes, so it’s not so bad. I take the most rigorous schedule possible, which means lots of honors classes and the few AP courses offered at my school.

Depends on the school.

But my school’s official transcripts only show the final grade for the course… unless it’s a senior course and it hasn’t ended yet. Then they just show the current grade.

Freshman:
PE: B; A
Spanish 3/4: B+;A+
Biology: B;A
Honors English: A-;A
Honors Geometry: A(first semester was CP); A-
Honors Geography: B-; B+ (should be A-)

Sophomore:
PE: A (one semester only)
Honors Spanish 5/6: A;A+
Honors Chemistry: B+;A-
Honors English Lit: A-;A-
Honors Algebra II: A;A
AP World History: A-;C (my first C :()

UW (9-10): 3.652
W (9-10): 4.304

I’m a pretty average student for CC. Freshman year I had all As and A+s except for 1 A- in world history since it’s my worst subject. This year I had mostly A-'s except for an A in math and 2 B+'s in AP Euro and AP Art History. My cumulative gpa is 3.86 or something like that.

Bleh, my bad, I didn’t want to cast the tone of it as something amazing, innovative or brillant, it’s pretty ■■■■■■■■ actually IMO (lol), it’s just the little stuff I do that most people don’t do (outside of places like CC, at least), such as decent methods of gaming the system during classes on test days and hw days, quick-witted excuses, figuring out certain patterns and tricks, etc (nothing that anyone can’t do, but no one usually does).

In other words, a bunch of arbitrary bs that somehow works for me. It’s hard to describe.

Um. My GPA got pretty much owned by APWH freshmen year.
We have this thing we do at our school called ‘cool points’. You get a cool point for each point you have away from straight 100s.

eg:
Freshmen Year:

Eng 2 H : 98 (2 cool points)
Biology H: 99 (1 cool point)
Physical Science H: 99 (1 cool point)
French 2 CP (State forced. >_>): 100
APWH: 89 (■■■, this teacher was so hard)
Pre-Calc H: 100
PE: 100

Cool Points: 15

Sophomore Year (This year):
AP Comp. Sci: 100
Eng 3 H: 97
AP Physics C: 99
Chemistry H: 100
French 3 H: 100
Gov H: 99
Econ H: 98
AP Calc AB: 100

Cool Points: 7

Well, here are my grades for this year…

And I still have to do my exams for second semester but here they are now.
