+/- grades

My school weights +/- grades differently.

The scale goes 4.0/3.7/3.5/3.3/3.0 ect. When applying, do UCs take plus minus into account, or do they just look at the letter grade?

+/-'s will count.

Thank you!

3.5? what does that look like on a transcript?

A=4
A-=3.7
B+=3.3
B=3
?=3.5?

I’m transferring from a CC, but transferred here after 50 credits at univ miami. they said you have to report the +/-'s but they calculate your gpa without them.
Otherwise, they’d have to go through to every school’s grading policy and it’d take forever!!

A+/A/A-=4.0
B+/B/B-=3.0
C+/C/C-=2.0
D+/D/D-=1.0
F=0.0

dunno how it is at other schools, but it’s been this way for me at every school since junior high

I guess every school has a different way of calculating gpa. I’m just hoping that UCs have a system more like mine, where +s and -s make a difference in gpa.

Anybody from a UC know how they calculate GPA?

A=4
A-=3.7
B+=3.3
B=3

like that …

"Q: When does UC take into consideration plus and minus grades appearing on a California community college transcript?

A: The University uses the grading system of the community college in computing the GPA of the student for admissions purposes." Source: [University of California - Counselors](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/educators/counselors/adminfo/transfer/advising/answers/preparing.html#5)

So, basically they go by whatever system your home campus uses. Maybe it is different for out of state, but this is definitely how they calculate your GPA if you are transferring from a CCC/UC/CSU campus.

A 3.5 would be half A’s and half B’s.
