I heard that at Yale, there is a curved grading system based on how you do compared to other where like only a certain amount of people in a class gets As, a certain gets Bs and so forth. Is that true?

I believe so.

My best friend is at Yale this year and even though he has an A in Calculus, he keeps complaining that he could end up with a B if lots of kids get As. Also, the class as a whole is graded GPA-wise on a curve I think.

Don't quote me on any of this, but I've heard enough whining from my friend at Yale that it would seem to be the case.

I think you're confusing Yale with Princeton. While individual classes (generally large intro lectures, often quantitatively focuses like math or econ) may have strict curves, there are no university-wide policies in this regard, unlike at Princeton, where every department in the university is required to adhere to a specific curve.
