If I don’t do well on a course is it better to get W or S/NS, or should I retake the course again?
In general a S is better than a W - it generally wont be noted that you originally signed up for a letter grade (vs credit/no credit). Only some schools will erase a W if you re-take the course so make sure that’s the case before accepting a W and re-taking. Also make sure if you switch to S/NS nothing additional will show on the transcript and that you’ll be getting an S.
I think you should retake this again. But you need to be more sensitive than before. Because one of your chance had already gone. So must be careful and do better. Thank you!
Depends on the grade and what you’re aiming for. A C might be better than a W, but if you were going to get lower than a C I’d say go ahead and withdraw from the class and retake it. One W usually won’t hurt you.
A P is almost always better than a W, but there are some classes you really need to show a good grade in depending on what you’re trying to do (e.g., general chemistry for med school, or real analysis for a PhD in economics).
