Good afternoon CC,
I currently have all A’s except for Bio in which I received an 89.56%. My teacher uses a solid grading scale so A, B, C, etc. Would it be too ridiculous to ask him if he can possible make it a B+? I’ve scheduled an appointment, I just don’t know if it’s reasonable since he did mention that he only does solid grades.
If he says he does solid grades then I assume he will stick with doing solid grades. I mean you could ask and see what happens.
You lose nothing by asking!
Give your prof a definite reason for why you NEED the B+. Simply asking for it isn’t probably going to be all that persuasive. If you can connect it to a result, your prof has more incentive to change his rule for you.
I’d think the prof would be more likely to give you an A than a B+. I’ve never heard of a prof who only does solid grades changing that for one student.
I agree with @guineagirl96 - I think you’d have a better chance of getting an A rather than convince the professor to use an entirely different grading system.
Whatever you do, do not tell your professor that you “NEED” the B+.
You are more likely to get an A than a B+. Hopefully, to professor rounds.
I have to agree with @romanigypsyeyes. Do not, under any circumstances, tell the professor that you “need” a certain grade. That just looks desperate and foolish.
If the Prof gives solid, grades it is unlikely she will give a B+ however, I think you could get an A fairly easily. Go talk to her or send an email, talk about how you worked hard, learned a lot, attended every class, etc. Don’t say “I need dis or I can’t go to med skool” or something like that.
Thanks guys! Just talked to him and he said unfortunately there are many in my situation and came up to ask for round/+ and it’s going to have to be a B. It’s fine though! I still learned a lot.
