Is grading for upper-division courses horribly deflated as it is for lower-division courses?

Thanks.

Thanks.

I can only speak for EECS, but I'd say if anything, upper division grades are inflated. I find it quite easy to get a high GPA in upper divs.

Well EECS is pretty much the hardest major at Cal I think. I'll be majoring in Statistics so hopefully when I transfer there I wont have any problems with attaining a high GPA.

Ever gotten a 4.0 in a semester with upper division courses? What's your GPA?

I've never gotten a 4.0. But I've never gotten less than an A- in an upper division course. Overall GPA is 3.73, but my EECS GPA is higher than that, and my upper division EECS GPA is higher yet.

eudean, can you name some upper-div profs who are particularly generous with the grading curve?

I know Prof. Ming Wu allots 40-45% A's in his 105 class. Any others like this?

I'd like more feedback on this question.

By the way, does anyone know anything about upper div chemistry classes (104A-104B, 120A-120B, 125, etc.)? The College of Chemistry doesn't seem to have a solid grading guideline.

I honestly can't really say. All of the upper div professors I've had have given me a good grade. I believe that Nikolic is a pretty hard 105 prof, Gastpar is a pretty easy 120 prof, and Chenming Hu is a pretty easy 130 prof. Subramanian wasn't too bad for 140, and I think in general he isn't very tough.
