Grading scales and weighting affect how colleges look at you?

I go to a school that is pretty damn difficult for public schools, one of the best in the nation I think. The grading scale is a little different though as you need a 94 to get an A and an 84 to get a B. My first question is do colleges take this into consideration? Also, I have a friend whose school gives 1.0 added to your GPA for AP classes and 0.5 for Honors classes. My school is so that 0.5 is given for AP classes and nothing extra is given for Honors. Do colleges take this into consideration as well? His GPA looks way better than my own. I heard that most colleges look at unweighted grades anyways, but I'm not sure. I would appreciate any help to these questions I've had for a long while.

Yes they take it into consideration...Don't fret.

Your school is freakin' hard! My school gets 1.0 added for APs AND Honors, hahah.

Colleges take into account the school you came from.

You think thats bad, my school adds .3 to your weighted average AUTOMATICALLY even if you only take 1 AP or Honors class. You can take 10 AP's and 5 Honors as opposed to 2 AP's and no honors and they are both only .3 higher.

haha well, my school doesn't weight at all! i think i win haha.. but yeah they look at what is called your school profile.. and from that they see how they do gpas and which classes are the hardest, etc etc

my school adds 0.025 for only AP classes. No extra point for honors is given. :(

Do colleges just look at unweighted and how many honors and APs?

No, they don't regard your Honors and AP's

Guys come on, use some common sense.

yay sarcasm!

Valid question; I think he means as opposed to taking weighted GPA into account.

I usually hear that "colleges don't really care about your weighted GPA; they just look at course rigor and the grades that you got."

I also hear that colleges look at your transcript and convert your grades into their own, universal weighted GPA.
