<p>There are millions of applicants every year to different universities and colleges, and each person wrote in a style all their own, not by basing their writing style off of somebody else’s work.</p>
<p>Do not base how you should write your very personal essay on what others have done. Write like you always have! It doesn’t matter whether your style is casual or formal, so long as it’s something that comes from you.</p>
<p>If you’re unsure about whether or not you should write about some specific topic, ask around. Get some opinions, but, I, personally, don’t think it matters what you write about so long as it’s genuine and gives the reader a glimpse as to who you really are.</p>

<p>Closing this thread because College Confidential recommends being extremely cautious about sharing essays because there are people who’ll plagiarize them or sell them.</p>
<p>There are books that contain examples of good and bad essays.</p>
<p>In addition, there is no one style of essay that is acceptable to colleges.</p>
