I am just wondering how hard it is to graduate 1 year early from CMU, will the workload be extremely overwhelming???? someone help me out, i appreciate :)

Are you coming in with any AP credits?

Does your intended major require you to take courses in sequence?

Perhaps you could think about a double major? A freshman will have too much to do the first year to worry about getting through in 3 years.

You are paying for the college experience. If you want to get through college fast I'd rethink the reason for attending CMU.

I got through in 3.5 years with a BS in Materials Science & Engineering and a minor in Physics and probably could have done it in 3 years if my major had been planned out a little differently.

One of my friends graduated in 3 years with a double major in CS and Math.

It all pretty much depends on how many AP credits you have coming into CMU and how much you're able to overload.

Thank you guys, but how many AP credits do I need?

As RacinReaver mentioned, it would not be extraordinarily difficult to graduate in less than 4 years in most programs, especially if you enter with a significant number of AP credits. I would say that the "extra" time afforded by the normal 4-year schedule is valuable, though, as far as allowing for more academic exploration and a more thorough "college experience."

I went in with the equivalent of seven courses worth of credit and had to take extra classes the fall of my fourth year to stay a full time student.
