<p>Also, it’s a fairly isolated anecdote, but my roommate at CMU was a computer engineer with a GPA over 3.75, and he actually wound up making a less than the average salary. I imagine both the BS and MS salaries were inflated due the large number of people doubling/minoring in Business and getting finance related jobs, though.</p>

<p>Also, as a note, you only need a 3.0 in order to be guaranteed admission into the MS program for EE at CMU. And, frankly, getting a 3.0 really isn’t that difficult as long as you’re doing all of your assignments.</p>

<p>There are lots of folks that take a job with a lower salary for a variety of reasons. We just lost one engineer that will be working in a research position that pays much less than we do. Sometimes the type of work matters. Sometimes it’s the location. Sometimes it’s growth potential. Money isn’t everything.</p>
