I'm a prospective grad student just looking to see what the general opinion of the EECS MEng program vs the MS program is. I probably won't be going on to PhD so this will be a terminal degree. One of my current professors suggested that I opt for the MS even if I don't do PhD because the MEng program is too new and might not offer enough value.

So I'm basically wondering what I can expect from M.Eng vs. MS in terms of:

how much it helps to get a job in industry after graduation

difficulty

overall usefulness

ms is MUCH MUCH harder to get in and it requires a thesis as it’s research focused, which is why most ppl go Stanford for ms. Meng is very new and similar to all the other 1yr programs, it lacks depth and a summer of intern while in school. Btw, I think if you do well in ugrad, MS is quite unnecessary and a waste of time since a lot companies allow u to get MS part time and ms in EECS is way less prestigious and rigorous as it’s just taking more courses and pay sh1t load of money for tuition.
