Can anyone outline the pros and cons to the three options for Graduate housing provided by Rice - Morningside Apartmenst, Rice Village Apartments and Rice Graduate Apartments. Are they predominantly filled with international students?

I can’t answer the question for you about who is living in them, but as a local, I do have to say that the Rice Village Apartments was only built about a year or two ago and is in an outstanding location. It’s literally one block from Rice Village, which is about 14 square blocks of shops and restaurants. http://www.ricevillageonline.com/ It’s also close to campus, has a shuttle that runs on a regular basis and is located next to a very upscale neighborhood. I’d like to live there!

There are many international students, but there are also others as well. I have had some friends live in RGA on Bissonnet which was pretty nice. Either RGA or RVA will be good places to live, although as blackeyedsusan says, RVA is brand new.

Thanks for the info!

Thanks Antarius…my d will put down RVA as first choice then and we’ll see how hard it is to get a single there!

The good thing about all the housing is that maintenance is taken care of. Cable and internet are included, so your only expense above rent is electricity.

Also, the morningside apartments are old and probably will be torn down soon. Don’t live there.

Thanks! Hopefully she gets her first pick!

They’re both very nice! They’re raising rates this year, though, I think.
