I am currently an undergrad at Emory. I want to eventually lean school with a PhD in Political Science and a Law degree. However, I don't know which to do first. Does it matter? The most important thing for me is to get into a good law school... so would law schools prefer for me to go to law school first or get my PhD first?

If you want to practice law, get the J.D. second. If you want to become an academic, get the Ph.D. second.

What are your reasons for wanting both degrees?

To answer your question, law schools don’t care. They want to see your LSAT & GPA. Since you are undecided, take the LSAT exam. If you score high enough to get into your targeted school, then apply to law school first. Also, research law schools as many have joint degree programs. Not sure, but a good place to start your search is either Duke University School of Law or the Univ. of Michigam School of Law if inquiring about joint degree programs.
