graduate scene

hi....i have come across many undergrad discussions but how is the graduate education at Indiana..

thank you

pk, I think you’ll find that mainly undergrads and parents post here. Personal knowledge of any of the graduate programs at IU is very limited. However, if you read this board, you will see LOTS of comments about the quality of life on campus which would apply to grad students also.

I see that you are an international student, so visiting the 3 campuses you have been accepted to may not be possible. However, you can still develop a list of SPECIFIC questions that you could pose to the SM department at each school.

Ask them if there is anything unique about their program that sets them apart from other schools offering this major. Ask them how internships are handled. Ask them what their post-graduation employment rates are. Ask them how many companies use their Career Services office to look for recruits.

Sorry I can’t be of more help. Good luck with your decision.

thank you so much.

I am going to start a master’s program at IU in the fall, majoring in outdoor recreation. I visited campus earlier this month and I think it will be a great place to study and do research. Their funding packages are competitive and include fully-paid health insurance. The grad population is quite large so you will not lack for peers. The library is enormous and open just about all hours. Also, I think Bloomington rocks as a college town - struck me as a great place to live.

Anything more specific you’d like to know? I don’t really know about any programs besides Recreation, Park and Tourism Studies.

thank you for your reply…could you by any chance have an idea about univ of michigan-ann arbor sport management program? I have to select between IU, univ of michigan and univ of south carolina for masters in sport management starting fall 2011…

thank you for your help
