Graduate School Admissions?

I'm currently enrolled at the University of Kentucky and am majoring in electrical and computer engineering. My first question is how well do I need to do at Kentucky to get into somewhere like Stanford for graduate school? Also, if I want to transfer somewhere else after my freshman, I'm just now finishing my first semester at college, or sophmore year, do ACT scores really have much to do with getting accepted, as a transfer, into another school like Texas A&M for example?

Most of your questions about transferring are answered in the sticky thread titled “Transfer Admissions 101” in the Transfer Forum. Click on “Discussion Home” in the upper-left of this screen and scroll down to find that Forum.

Graduate admissions is based on (not necessarily in this order):
Undergraduate GPA
GPA in coursework specifically related to the intended graduate field
Letters of Recommendation
Research and/or work experience related to the intended graduate field
GRE scores
Publications
Statement of Purpose

Students get into top graduate programs every year from colleges and universities that you have never heard of. If your goal is to pursue graduate studies at Stanford, make an appointment with your advisor, and sit down to talk with him/her about devising a plan that will get you there.

you need to do well to get into stanford. a kid last year from my unknown worse that kentucky got into stanford’s program. i wouldnt transfer, just work hard
