graduate school application wreck!!!

I want to get my masters in statistics but I don't think im strong enough. I have a cumulative 3.55 gpa and im a math major. These are my grades so far in all my math upper division classes

Differential Geometry-A
Intro to proofs-A

Graph Theory-A

Gre Quant: 168

Gre Qualititaive: 161

Yeah my grades are not that stellar and I also another problem----> I don't have any research experience on me either and I feel this is going to hold me back from getting admission into a good master's program. I still have one more year till I graduate. . I mean I don't expect to go to an ivy league, I just want to go to a good school like Stoneybrook. I don't know what to do. Will this ruin my chances of getting in? Right now im trying to get a hold of a professor that I can do research with under a topic of my interest but not sure if that will do? I'd like some advice on what to do?

Your math grades aren’t bad at all, first of all. I think the research experience is what you need to stress about getting to be a strong applicant, though. Hopefully you can get some, and then you will be a much better applicant. Good luck!

Your math grades are excellent - mostly As, only two Bs. For a master’s in statistics, you don’t need extensive research experience. Most MA in stats graduates go into the workforce and don’t do independent research. If you can begin to do some next year with a professor, that should be enough.
