I plan to get my BS in geology, and my current plan is to go on and get my MS in that also. However, I was wondering how much weight does a MS in certain engineering fields carry? I know for Pet. Eng. all that seems necessary is a BS, but for other fields (like Geotechnical, mining, or environmental) does it matter? I understand its possible to attain the degree, but what do job prospects look like with only a MS in that field?
Thanks for any help

Most jobs (job description) only require a BS in related field, and states: MS prefer. Nowaday, engineering jobs attract many applicants - One must have years of related experiences, or MS/PhD to stay competitive.
