Graduate school in Calif / Undergrad -- Management

Okay, I'm a CC student and i will be transferring Fall 2010. My Major is Business Administration - Management. I eventually want to become a Human Resource Manager so i have to go for a MBA.

So far as with most other Biz majors Haas is my first choice but i'm debating if i get denied [most likely] if UCI will be a better choice than CPSLO for a BA degreee.. I've just been informed that the Paul Merage Business school [UCI] will roughly accept 15 transfer students. IF i do not get into UCI, would UCR be a better decision for me based on the fact they offer a BA degree concentrating in Human Resources. Or should i possibly consider a different UC/CSU ?

I do plan to get a MBA so i need networking. Which college has the upper hand in regard to this. Moreover, i'm unclear about graduate school. What are the factors that give someone a better chance of acceptance to any graduate school. Doing very well on the GMAT is one factor i know.

I would deeply appreciate some feedback from anyone who has studied Biz Management.
Thanks.

bump, for much needed help. the UCI website can only answer so much.

I’m not familiar with those schools, so can’t say that. However, I will say that the most important thing for MBAs is post-graduate work experience. In otherwords, whichever school can provide you the most/best employment opportunities is the one you should attend if you intend to get an MBA.

I doubt that you HAVE to get an MBA. You should probably look into Masters of Human Resources programs also. I’m assuming that you can get into these programs right out of undergrad, as opposed to MBA programs that require post-graduate work experience.

Overall, a good MBA degree is more flexible and valuable but I’m not certain it is what you are looking for. One can certainly get HR jobs from MBA programs, and would possibly get them with a higher starting salary. However, that is a reflection of where the MBA student is in his career (i.e. already having work experience).

In your opinion, What would be a sufficient amount of work experience before i wanted to go for the MBA, year wise? I’ve also received additional information and i’ve come to a conclusion that a MBA will benefit me the most.

Because i want to pursue a General Management MBA degree, obviously i need to do internships at business’s/corporations. Are there any names that carry more leverage as far as employment opportunities are concerned ?
