this was an example (i'm not in this situation yet) and i plan on either attending business or law school...and columbia seems incredible...maybe too good to be true so I was just checking if the whole transferring to Berkeley from a community college, would affect me negative.

You need to worry about what you want to do, not this. B-school and law school are totally different balls of waxes.

For any post-grad program, your going to be judged primarily on your GPA and your standardized test scores. You won't be applying to b-school for another few years, anyway.

Columbia is not "too good to be true." It's a great university. I'm not understanding the "Columbia Law or Columbia Business or bust" mentality. It isn't the best law school nor is it the best business school, so I'm not sure about this one-track mentality.

no, i'm open to attend any school..but when it comes to columbia, i was specifically referring to either law or business school. i'd be down to go anywhere that will cater to my educational needs. and i was just checking to see this specific school (columbia) would care that i transferred to berkeley from a community college.

No school will care that you transferred! Some of my friends at the best grad schools in the world (Harvard Business, Law, med; Columbia MBA, Law, Med, etc) are former transfers!
