As most of all new graduate students I am looking for accomodations for the upcoming semester. I normally would never think about University housing, but it looks more and more inviting. If I was going to stay longer than the 2 years I wouldn't even have considered it. I mean all utilties included and a descent "landlord". My new university offers dedicated graduate singles housing. The only drawback is that its kinda small. But the halls are 24hr-quiet and they are open year round. I was thinking about trying it out for a semester and if I don't like it going with a standard off-campus apartment. Anyone else thinking about on-campus housing?

whats the problem with on campus housing? its usually so much more convenient, and it gives you an opportunity to meet other grad students from all different departments

I'm living in on-campus housing this year (although it's at my boyfriend's school and not mine) pretty much because it's about $200-300/mo cheaper than a comparable apartment off-campus... and because my boyfriend wouldn't get up for class if he had to commute. :)

Ours is also somewhat small, but I'm willing to accept small in exchange for all that extra cash in my pocket.

Yeah... Cambridge is expensive.

Gah... I would do anything just for a shack and a spot at Harvard or MIT. Hahahaha.

I thought about it, but I decided to get a room in a 7 bedroom house right on the edge of campus. It's all grad students in the house though. I'd love to get a single bedroom apt but my assistantship pays peanuts :(
