I am in my senior year of a B.S. in Biology from a small public university. I’m starting to apply to grad schools and I really have no idea where I stand.
Undergrad GPA: 3.3; 3.4 major
GRE: Taking this Monday (practice exams are approx. ~160V, ~150Q, 4.5W)
Research: ~2 years in prof’s lab researching rapid identification of pathogenic microbes
Publications: Possibly a publication in microbiology journal (should know soon; would be listed as 3rd author); 3 posters ((1)1st author, (2) 3rd)
3 letters of recommendations
Additional Factors: McNair Scholar, Honors Program (will graduate as lower division)
My main interest is infectious diseases, ultimately I would like to research possibly teach. I am planning to apply to PhD (biomedical, microbiology, infectious disease) programs and MPH at:
University of Michigan
Wisconsin Madison
Berkeley
George Washington University
University of Georgia
Has anyone applied to these programs in the past? What are my chances? And finally, what would be some other viable options based on my stats?
